After the first few successful send / recieves, my email client started giving an error on failing to send email via my smtp server. Deleting and recreating the account solves it but this was impractical.

Annoyance #3 - Appalling battery life from HTC Touch Diamond.

I was struggling to get through the day without charging my handset. I tried asking Carphone Warehouse who just offered a warranty replacement. I asked Orange calls centre who said to turn off bluetooth - very helpful since I use it! Finally I dropped into an Orange shop in Oxford St (Thanks to the Aussie guy who helped) and the helpful guy there said to turn off the 3g when I wasn't using it and change the default band to GSM. Hey presto, the battery life has increased 2-3 fold. OK - not much use if you live / work in a 3G rich area but I work in a building that doesn't so no worries here.

Annoyance #2 - Activesync regularly fails.

You can try deleting the partnership etc.. but I found a solution that works for me here. It involves turning off task syncing.

I've just got my new HTC Touch Diamond. I've got a few annoyances which I'll be posting about over the next few weeks as I find solutions. On the whole the phone looks very slick and feels good.

I've just had a great new deal from O2 - a free XDA Orbit on O2s £20 tariff! However, while the orbit has some plus / minus compared to the XDA Mini S, the biggest annoyance has been new new O2 Calendar. It improves on the standard Windows Mobile calendar by showing appointments from future days, as well as today. However I couldn't get rid of past appointments from today. After a few back and forth e-mails to O2 help and some net research that suggested you can't get rid of it I found a way - the following:

• Click on the O2 Customisation / Task Manager bubble (bottom right of screen)
• Click options and deselect Calendar. OK
• Goto Start, Settings, Today, Items and select Calendar here. This one is the default Windows Mobile entry.

Sounds simple when you've got it...
